History was made yet again at Aachen, this time in the Deutsche Bank Stadium where the German dressage riders pulled double, 80+% hat tricks to with both the Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special, and the Nations Cup competition.
In the Grand Prix Special CDIO5*, Kristina Broring-Sprehe and Desperados FRH won with a score of 83.725, while Dorothee Schneider and Showtime FRH finished second on 81.902 and Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD took third with 80.686. Their combined scores secured Germany’s top finish in the team competition, with USA and Denmark in second and third.

The CDI4* Freestyle saw more German top finishes, with Jenny Lang-Nobbe and Loverboy 26 winning the class with a 76.800, Charlott-Maria Schurmann and Burlington FRH finishing second on 73.875, and Jan-Dirk Giesselmann rounded out the top 3 with a 73.675. The Under 25 Grand Prix Freestyle ended up a close race between winner Laurence Roos on Fil Rouge with a 74.550, CHIO U25 Grand Prix winner Juan Matute Guimon finishing second on 73.600, with Sweden’s Lina Dolk nipping at his heels with a 73.200 for third. The WOTAX Prize Intermediare I featured exceptional horses, and saw Michael Eilberg and Woodlander Farouche, who won the Prix St. Georges earlier in the week, victorious over German Olympians Hubertus Schmidt, Helen Langehanenberg, and eventing and dressage star Ingrid Klimke.
On Sunday, in the final dressage competition of the CHIO Aachen, the Deutsche Bank Prize Grand Prix Freestyle CDIO5*, the German riders repeated their triple over 80% dressage hat trick, with Kristina Broring Sprehe topping the class on a personal best score of 88.825. Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD finished second with an impressive 86.950, narrowly edging out Dorothee Schneider and Showtime FRH at 86.925. This record breaking performance by the German team solidified their places on the roster for the Rio Olympics.
